Apes, prewired for $218..and you didn't think the quality would match the price?
Sorry bud. That's a sucker-bet and you lost.
I've had good dealings with Hill Country Custom Cycles (HCCC) on ebay. They sell ape kits for $299 (not pre-wired). I've used them twice and both times the bars and most of the cables are decent. I will say the clutch cable is from drag specialties and ALWAYS yellows within a year. I'd opt for a better quality clutch cable if you use them.
All the cables I got from HCC were Motion Pro, including the clutch cable. Supposed to be pretty nice cables, but I paid $75 more for my kit than you did...
I made the same mistake. I was at that point in my build where my eyes were bleary and my wallet flat. I got these from someone other than Demons but the result was the same. The switches were spongy and the action felt cheap. They are light weight something (aluminum, maybe) covered in some strange black coating. It would have taken hours with a razor blade to make all the edges look like they fit.
I used some old MoCo stock hand controls instead. Plain but bulletproof.
We ordered a tank for our bike and it came with a large dent in it.
I returned it to demons cycle and they said the damage was caused by
FedEx so they had it in the Fed Ex warehouse. Fed Ex was contacted and
informed me that the gas tank was delivered back to Demons Cycle and
signed for and gave me the delivery confirmation number. Demons cycle refuses
any contact with me and i filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau but
after numerous attempts to contact them they never replied. Needless to say I am out $350 and still don't
have a tank for my bike, and to top it off Demon's Cycle is the only company with
a tank that will fit my bike that is anywhere near affordable. Karma will get them,
hopefully sooner than later. I highly recommend not ordering from this business,
its no different than throwing your money in the trash.
Checked out their site. They show paying by pay pal, various credit cards and money order. FWIW, always consider using the credit card, as you should have their support in getting your money back if you get screwed on a deal, like has been mentioned.
Explain to the cc company how you were deceived and want to have your card credited and chances are good that the cc company will assist, as they don't want a problem with the card holder, you. Just a thought. Check pay pal's policies, too, before paying through them, as they used to support the purchaser and any claims made against the seller, also.
i was just about to order demons pre wired apes when i saw this thread..thanks for the heads up!! i will be buying them elsewhere.(like my ol man always told me, if it sounds too good to be true?) i saw the price and ALMOST could not resist. thanks again!!
