I think it's a basic course that mechanical engineers take early on in their programs -- 'Check Your Common Sense at the Door 101." When I was in school in the 60s, the ME program has a rep for that sort of crap.
Yah I know I worked on forklifts and smaller heavy equipment in the 70's , most of what came through the shop dated back to the 40's sometimes and it was a total teardown to do anything most times . And I did help change plugs in a couple Shelby Cobra's and yep the motor had to be lifted .
