Hey all. I've removed the backrest on my Heritage since I'm the only one on it 99% of the time. Quite a little chore. Is there a good, aftermarket quick-release backrest that looks good, for when the wife comes along (search came up with nothing useful...)?
I bought some used detachable sideplates off ebay: 53815-00. Make sure you get the right ones because the Heritage sideplates have a notch in them on the bottom edge. Just reuse the stock rack and backrest.
Got the docking kit from HD.
Finished it off with a fender bib from Chilhowee Leather for when I take the backrest and seat off.
+4. It's what I have and I can put it on or take it off in ~3 seconds. Haven't heard any complaints from the wife about sturdiness even with a pretty heavy bag attached to it. (no that wasn't a shot at the ol lady)
