If it was "just a machine", I would have no need for it. It's not perfect, but it's my machine and I accept it lock, stock and barrel. It gives me pleasure to ride. It's lowered my blood pressure by 15 points (truth). It costs me money to own, insure and operate. It takes my wife and I to places where the journey is truely better than the destination. It is a talisman of balence and peace. It connects me to many other people whom I call friends. I don't complain about it or its needs. I just simply do what is necessary to take good care of it and get on with getting on. It doesn't mow the gras, take out the trash, pay the bills, cook my meals or keep me warm at night so it is only one of many aspects of my life.... but then again, it's just a machine....
I once asked one of my children when he was a teenager if his glass was half full or half empty. His response was that it all depended on the size of the glass.
