64, for a little while longer. First Harley I rode (a friend's, not mine) was a hard tail 45 with a suicide shift. Got to ride several that weren't mine till I finally got one. Haven't seen one in a long time, but back then most of the ones I got to ride had the shifter relocated as a short handle on the side of the case; you reached just under your butt to shift, and if you started going over on the left side while you were holding the clutch pedal with your left foot, well, that was a bad day. My daughter wants my Harley real bad, (can't afford to buy her own yet), and I think is a little surprised that there's finally something I won't give her. Am I a bad Daddy?

For some reason computers keep popping up here. My Daughter wanted her own when she was 14. I had a little part time 'puter business on the side, and had a bunch of parts laying around, so I gathered up the basics, removed all the screws and any stuff that could normally be removed, threw it all in a box with some manuals, pliers, and a little screwdriver. She said, "What's this?", and I told her it was her computer; I didn't see any sense in buying one when I had all the parts to build one. Figured I'd give her a few pointers during the week, but wouldn't actually touch it. She asked a few questions, and about 4 hours later she said Windows was running ok, what programs did I have. Talk about surprised, it would have taken me that long, including installing Windoze. Then she wanted to remodel her bedroom; now she knows how to do that, too. And replace brakes, water pumps, and a few other car parts. She's shot more deer than I have. I wonder, how big a box would I need for all the parts in a Harley, she might be ready...

I'm 23. I got my Super Glide when I was 22. Been riding bikes sing I was a youngun, started out of dirt bikes. I don't ever see myself NOT owning a Harley in the near or longterm future. It's ingrained in me now. If anything I see myself owning a few more maybe a softail in the future. OR perhaps even a bagger like a Street Glide. I'm not opposed to crotch rockets either though. I have a deep-seeded love for anything with 2 wheels.
