I don't like it, if it had a switch maybe. Mine kicks in on dry pavement if the wheel hits a bump. When that happens my braking distance gets longer.
I can see an advantage for a casual rider that doesn't constantly practice but that ain't me.
It's worthless until you need it. Then you'll be very happy you have it!
Still, it's no replacement for good braking practices and knowing your bike in all conditions so you can at least anticipate the timing of the lockup. However, ask someone who has gone down when their front locked up and skidded out, I bet they wish they had abs.
I have a 2009 FXDC, it does not have ABS. But, brakes are suppose to hook up and work together when applied. I've found that no matter what I do, even when trying, I can not lock up the rear brake. This is a good thing..... a very good thing I think.
I would go for it. Unless you're SUPER in tune with your vehicle you never know when it may help you. Like today, I had a box truck swerve hard in to my lane while about to go through the toll booth for the turn pike. I guess he decided he didn't want to go through the north bound side EZpass lane and instead through the south bound cash lane. It's just better to have something like that than not.
Oh, and I guarantee there will be a few people who post something like "IM SO GREAT, I DONT NEED ABS BECAUSE I TOOK PROFESSIONAL RIDING COURSES AND I RACED SELEMANS25HOURENDUROSUPERLONG SO YOU ALL SUCK AT RIDING" but they're just trolls and/or attention ******. inb4shitstorm
Mine sometimes kicks in when I don't want it too. For example crossing a train track or even on bumpy roads, hit the brake if it detects a lock up for even 1 millisecond, which is like one stone rolling under your tire, it lifts the brake pedal off competely disengaging the brake. But, that's sort of my fault and I think is a small price to pay for the safety of it. If you were banking around a corner on the highway and suddenly had to make an emergency stop, it's nice to know you're not going to lock up and slide out. I'm in the ABS camp. Do it.

I cant believe Harley waited so long... I can tell you it works when you really need it. One thing to remember is that it will not keep you from dumping the bike if the wheel is turned. You still need to straighten the wheel before you apply heavy braking, and continue full braking to a complete stop.
