How is everyone doing. Really like the forum and all the great pics.
I have always wanted a Harley and within the next 6 months I am going to puchase either a 07' fxdl dyna lowrider or a 07' fxdwg wide glide. My question is what is the best way to go about puchasing the bike to get the best price. Are Harley sales like cars and the prices vary at different dealerships or they all priced about the same? Are they priced lower at different times of the year? I live in Jacksonville florida if that matters. Just wanted to hear what opinions there might be. Can not wait to puchase one and when I do you can bet I will post some pics. Looking forward to being a part of the forum.
Thanks[sm=smokin.gif]

Normally I'd consider anything less than MSRP a bonus, but I'm not in a very competitive area. But I do think winter is the best time to get the best price. I've seen some posts about $1000 off MSRP lately.
Since you aren't in a big hurry to buy, I'd look around for a used bike. They don't hold their value like they used to, which is good for the used bike buyer. I bet there's some used 2007's floating around out there- people buy them and can't afford them, or they decide they actually wanted a different bike, or whatever. Might save you a few grand which you can use on chrome wingnuts and whatnot. Dealers are jerks for the most part. Don't expect any bargains from them.
Up here in the frozen tundra of Ohio some dealers have Winter sales in January. My dealer sold me my bike for $1000 off msrp in January......but it's torture having them deliver it in a trailer when there is 3 feet of snow on the ground.....[:@] There are some low mileage 2006 HD's on Ebay. But bikes in Florida usually sell for more than bikes up here. Go to the HD website and use the dealer locator and let your fingers do the walking at several dealers in your area. The best prices I have seen were 2006 leftovers for $2000 under MSRP back in August when the 2007's were already out. This all said. My true feeling is that it's easier to pay for something you really like versus something you settled for. So a bike you feel so-so about that you get at a great price may not be as good as a bike you love that costs a little more. Good luck. KB
If you do buy a used bike get a carfax title search done to make sure it's not a Katrina submarine.........

I bought a car back in the 80's. A Sherrif saw some rust on my car. and said "That must of been one of those cars that fell off a Barge A couple of years ago!! [:@]
Most dealers will probably take offers either below msrp or they might include extras. I've heard that some dealers absolutely will not budge off msrp, but they'll take off prep, taxes (not sure how they can't budge off msrp but they'll pay the tax on it) or they'll give you free services, or store credit for any accessories or cloths.
We have several dealers in the Tampa Bay area. I like the one's that have the "out the door price" on the bike.
There are a few that never have the price on the bike. You have to ask and then the go thru some figuring out and try to add on extented waranties. They use smoke and mirrors to finiance the bike, "you'll get a better rate if you purchase the add-on's".
My bike took about 4 hours to iron out the "details". When we purchased my wife's bike, with the price clearly marked. we were out the door in about an hour.

I was all set to buy a new 2007 model. I spent a lot of time researching the different new models. There were a lot of complaints, on various forums, about how hot the new models ran. I live in SW Florida since it is fairly warm here year round, I was concerned about buying a 2007 that would slowly cook me, while I was in stop and go traffic. There were also other complaints about excessive whine in 5th gear and a noise that sounds like bolts in a coffee can.
Some owners have one or more of these complaints while others have no complaints.
I didn't want to be one of the unfortunate ones, that ended up with a problem, so I canceled my order and started to shop for a model that was only a few years old. There are a considerable amount of used HDs for sale that are low mileage and just as good as new.
One of the advantages of buying a used model is most owners add a lot of accessories to their HD and when they sell they don't get much if any extra, for those accessories.
