So i am getting ready to swap out my stock bars to 16" apes and really dont want to put the front turn signals on these bars. if i have to i will put on the relocation kit to the forks but was wondering if in ohio it is required to have front turn signals. also, if it is required, anybody in ohio running a bike without them and not catching any heat?
I can't speak for Ohio, but I do recall reading in my state (CO), that they're not required by law.
FWIW, not that you asked, I'm with you on the look of a bike without signals. It does look nice and clean. But, with all the distractions today facing all the drivers out there, I want to be seen. I want people to know what I intend to do on my bike while approaching intersections.
Last thing I want is for someone to guess I'm turning when I'm not, and get tagged by a bumper. On my FLHXSE, it's a non-issue for the the front signals. But on my Heritage Springer, I'll be dropping them to under the passing lamps when I do bars.
According to link, AMA, they're required. I have seen some really small LED versions advertised that may work for you. When I replaced my bars I relocated mine to the fork area.
