Today I get a letter in the mail congratulating me on the purchase of an '07. Goes on to say that the HD engineering team has refined the calibration for the Electronic Fuel Injection system for original equipment motorcycles, CVO and all street calibrated vehicles.
According to the letter, "the refined calibration will smooth the torque curve application in a manner that minimizes high shock loads to drive train components which could cause engine damage". The letter ends with HD urging this be done (at no cost).
I've been around bikes for a while now, but I have no frickin' clue what they are suggesting be done. Anyone know what's up?
By the way, nowhere do they refer to this as a recall[sm=chairshot.gif]
Its not a recall, it an update. there are plenty of posts on this already, but basically just take it in to the dealer and the will update the ECM with the new calibration. I am going to take mine in tomorrow, but my buddy has done his, and thinks it made a big improvement' Good luck
There have been numerous threads about this "service bulletin" in the touring section. Check there for details...
From what I can tell, HD is offering to change the torque curve slightly via a download to the ECM. This download is supposed to help engine performance around at around the 1500 RPM area.
