Today I get a letter in the mail congratulating me on the purchase of an '07. Goes on to say that the HD engineering team has refined the calibration for the Electronic Fuel Injection system for original equipment motorcycles, CVO and all street calibrated vehicles.
According to the letter, "the refined calibration will smooth the torque curve application in a manner that minimizes high shock loads to drive train components which could cause engine damage". The letter ends with HD urging this be done (at no cost).
I've been around bikes for a while now, but I have no frickin' clue what they are suggesting be done. Anyone know what's up?
By the way, nowhere do they refer to this as a recall[sm=chairshot.gif]
Got mine today, everyone on the forum says its a great. Going to drop off the bike sometime this week, if I ever get off from work long enough....
Let me know how it changes your bike. I'm couped up here in PA, snow's in the forecast and the bike's covered............. I won't find out for myself until about March[:@]
Got the letter on Friday 12-8-06 and called my delaer they said to bring it in whenever I get a chance. Took advantage of the 55 degree weather in NY on Sunday and drove it in. Took 5 minutes. Put 100 miles on it and what a difference in starting power and smoothness. Can't tell yet if the heat issue will be solved but as far as I'm concerned it was something that needed to be done. I highly recommend it.
Guys when you take yer bike in and they reflash the ECM when you drive out you can't tell they have done anything. There's not any more power. The update will help the bike on low lugging around 1500 rpms. Its suppost to smooth the calibration on the computer somehow. It is good that everybody does the reflash.
I got the notise. Now realize I did a stage 1 upgrade with the sert.
I called my HD dealer, I was told that since I did a exaust upgrade and had the sert, I could throw the letter away. I had already taken care of the problem.
