dealer just tried to sell me the extended warranty again. i really cant afford it right now and it came with a 2 yr. warranty. does anyone haveany thoughts on the subject. he said i can still purchase it before my exsisting warranty runs out. thanks vinny
I didn't buy it, going on 4 and half trouble free years. Extended warranties **** me off. It's like HD saying "here, why don't you buy some extra insurance in case our products suck". I bought an extended warranty for a pickup that I had a few years ago- that was a waste. No thanks, I'm not paying an extra grand or whatever for HD to stand behind their product.
Extended warranties are generally 90% profit, and many times prove to be completely worthless. Many refuse to cover "modified" motorcycles. Guess who determines what "modified" means? How many box-stock Harleys do you see out there?
Chances are if it makes it through the 2 years, it'll last longer than the extended warranty. Dealers love to sell them, tho. Profit up front AND if there is a failure.......
Anything that survives the original factory warranty can't be very defective to my way of thinking or it wouldn't have lasted two years. If it isn't defective I can't see anything going wrong after that so why make some insurance company (and dealer) fat.
Ask your salesman how much he personally gets if you buy the extended warranty. It's probably more than the comission he got off the bike when he sold it to you. Do you wonder why he's trying to sell you the plan???????????
For the most part I agree with ya'll on the extended warranty being a waste, however, wouldn't ya know it after the regular warranty was up on my Blazer the damn computer chip that controls the 2Hi, 4HI, 4LOW engagement went crazy and didn't light up any idiot lights and caused my truck to go in and out of 2hi to 4Low at highway speeds and tore up the fricken transmission.
