Wrong. There are many states that honor other states permits.

I can see that. Generally, a big guy on a big Harley would not be someone you'd want to mess with either way, I'd think.

Any place my mood carries me. The firearm is a hold-over from work; I'm basically expected to have it. The knife is a tool. Its been used for everything from popping the steel bands off a dresser crate in the old days to skinning rabbits. Never fought with it although if I had to --------- any port in a storm and all that.

Big guys on Harleys are usually the most peaceful nice people you could wish for. Its that 5'nuttin dude on the Honda who will clean your clock at the slightest chance. He got lots to prove - the 6'4" linebacker don't.

True. Not many have anything to say to me, and around here in traffic they usually look away. Never carried a blade because of the bike, and won't ever be caught without either. My Benchmark hangs below whatever I'm wearin, shirt, leather. Never been hassled yet... Had one since I was a kid. Use it daily at work and home.

Folding Benchmade in my pocket, always. Never been hassled about it.

Well, I'm small as **** lol. 5'11" and about 175lbs. The only thing that scares people is that I'm very heavily tattooed. Plus that only scares normal people, not the gang bangers you occassionally have to deal with. They are WAY better armed than even the police are so I figure if it ever came down to it better to have something than nothing? Maybe I can take 1 or 2 of them with me cause I sure as hell wouldn't get out of it alive.

Honestly though last "fight" I was in was with 3 rich dudes driving cars that cost more than my house. They didn't like the way my buddy looked at one of their gf's. They backed down and it didn't come to anything but you never know who's going to start what and when so it's best to be prepared.

Not the first thread I have come across about riding and weapons. Funny how this one is about knives but everyone is so quick to point out that they carry a gun instead. I guess I will start looking for a thread on why so many forum members feel it necessary to be packing? Of all the gear I have accumulated over the years for riding, a weapon has somehow never fit in. Just curious what the rest of the riding community is planning to shoot at or stab at...?

30+ years ago I had my right hand caught in between a belt and pulley while working on a conveyer. My knife was in my right pocket and I was by myself. My left hand would not reach the bottom of my right pocket. Since then I have small bladed knives on my belt on both sides. It has worked, I have not had an emergency since.

You beat me to the punch, so I went back and did a quick perusal....turns out over 30% were only concerned with babbling about their guns.
So....back on track...I carry a basic Leatherman...when I remember. It is very versatile, small and I need nothing more.
