It's cold here in LA (Lower Alabama) as well. Tomorrow's high only 55 but Sunday and Monday into the mid-60's. Most of us don't winterize our rides as 7 - 10 days is the most they have to sit without taking a ride. Grew up in St. Louis, went to school in northwest Arkansas and I don't miss the colder winters--but on the flip side the summers can be brutal in the other direction as well. Sitting on the bike at a red light, on a dark road surface, with the outside temperature 95+ is no picnic either.
34 Degree's is riding weather here in the northeast, the problem we have is the snow on the ground = salt bleached roads.we had snow yesterday morning here in NH ,now the roads look just like snow from all the salt.
Actually, winter for some of us is not such a big deal.I for one really enjoy that time, with the woodstove cranking, and knowing I have plenty of time to get the new bike built. After a good day working on the Harley, a good women, cold beer, and tunes, how can it get any better than that.As a matter of fact it is 18 degrees outside here in So.Maine, new snow on the ground, sun is just starting to rise, and the new bike is about ready to be assembled. The only reason I stop riding is because that 50 weight oil fights the starter too hard.
I live in Jacksonville as well. I am sitting here now waiting on that temperature to climb back up to around 55 and I am on the new 07 Road Glide to try and break that engine in. Just picked it up on Wednesday. I had to get a touring bike and something with a windshield for these cold winder days. The V-Rod is a blast in the summer, but when it's cold, there is too much wind to ride it. Where abouts in Jax do you live?
