Actually scuffed clearcoat. I posted this in a reply in another section and thought I should post here to be seen by more/others.
I purchased a used street glide in which the former owner had soft fake leather harley saddle bag covers, fairing cover and 1/4 back 4" of the gas tank cover (I suppose intended to keep your thighs from scratching the tank). I suspected the 1/4 gas tank cover had picked up debris and compromise the paint/ clear. It did.
There was visible dull abrasion marks but appeared to only be in the clear not the paint. I had success in the past with a jewlers polish calls "maas" removing fine abrasions etc.
I carefully worked the tank area where the line of abrasion was and after 20 minutes of working it, cleaning it, working it.....its back to new appearance.
By the way I had a fish finder with factory plastic face on it as well as a cheap timex watch and accidentally sprayed deet mosquito repellant on it. It had what appeared to be permanent dull spots on it. Couldn't clear it up with anything. I tried the "maas" on both and it was like magic, looks new again.
