I'm not planning to register in MD. Being in the military I can keep my WA residency and plates. I just update the registration online every year. Been doing that for a while in several states.
I've been riding in Maryland since 1977. The law has been 15 inches above seat. The techs at the local dealer say that some HDs are higher than that from the factory, or damn close. A cop told me as long as they are not higher than your shoulders, they won't hassle unless you are being an a**. I've seen some guys around here with bars so high it looks like they're standing up when they coming at you. Even though your bike is registered somewhere else they can still ticket you from what I've heard. Also, just a heads up. If a cop in Maryland stops you for something and you have one of those novelty helmets on, they will make you get an approved helmet before you can ride away. I carry a DOT approved helmet with me. (I know, it should be on my head. I do wear it some) P.S. They know about riders putting those fake DOT stickers on $10.00 helmets. Just my 2 cents.
CT law says nothing over shoulder height. Im sure if you arent being a dick head when youre riding they wont bother you. Thats usually the case unless johnny law is being the dick head

I'm guessing you should be fine.
I know in MD people with modified cars can be ordered to have an inspection done if something doesn't meet the inspection criteria if they're caught and since it's not a yearly. They however cannot order me to get an inspection since I'm in WV. They could probably be a dick and fine me for something, but I could likely take it to court and get it thrown out.
There's got to be something in the law that protects you from having to adhere to certain laws when "traveling" between states. Like how tint laws are different between states.
