If you change the cams, don't you have to remap the bike? Do you have to install a tuner?I was thinking that a cam change really required for best effects, a tuner, breather, and dyno tune. I hear all the threads about tuners and wonder what tuner is on the bike from the factory.
Yes, you need a tuner but not necessarily a dyno tune....I am going with the SERT...I am researching how to install it myself, then deciding whether to do the cams myself or pay a shop to do it...lots of good info on here...

Where in CT are you?I know of a great indy to do the work if you dont wanna do it yourself.
It may be cheaper, even if you don't do it yourself, if you have them use adjustable pushrods to cut down on the labor to remove the tanks and rockers. I replaced the cam brg. in mine, but it is an EVO and very easy to do.
Thanks! I really wish I had someone to help me do the work myself...so much in labor costs I could do apes for the labor cost alone!
I've never had a motorcycle worked on by anybody but me and I have no experince or training as a mechanic. Just get a service manual and a "fix my hog" DVD and fill in any gaps with the internet.
Here's my take on this.
I purchased a 2011 road glide with a 103 new and immediately had a v&h pro pipe, se heavy breather, se race tuner installed. After the installation the bike dynoed 75 HP and 91 FT LBS of torque.
I just installed 254E cams and the bike dynoed 88 HP and 94 ft lbs of torque. I picked up 12 HP and a few ft lbs of torque.I think I made a good choice of cams and exhaust for a stock engine. The blike pulls hard up to 5500 rpm. I spent $ 1000.00 on the cams, gaskets and adjustable pushrods. $1500.00 for the pro pipe, race tuner, heavy breather and dyno tune. I recommend this set up to anyone.

If I just blew $2500 for a 103 motor to have a stage 1, cams and dyno tune done then didn't even break 100/90, I'd be pretty damn upset and embarrassed, but that's just me...
