I feel sorry for all you out there who will never know what the world was like before fear became the daily drug and people lost the talent of being able to read other people in a face to face .
there are still some of us left.....we still meet in the same places we used to....side of the road....rest stops....diners....campgrounds.....dont meet up much at rallies anymore....you know why.....
Tent in the backyard, a spot in the garage absolutely. But like others have said there's no way I'm letting total strangers sleep in my house. Hell the way I sleep, you could steal the furniture out of my bedroom without me waken up.
40 years ago it wasn't that unusual. You would stop past some shop around or related business late afternoon and say something like "Where's a good local place for the night?" Nine times out of ten or so you could end up at the dealers house or throwing your blanket roll on some wrenches living-room floor. Had more than a few people sleep on my couch here and there over the years. These days I don't know as how I would do it unless the person was already known to me. Just too many X-factors out there.
I would never ask a stranger if i could stay in their house, for most it would be to weird for them, and even when i have been invited inside, it was to weird for me. However i have camped in back yards, and will generally let people camp in mine after i meet them and feel ok about it.
