+1, I don't even want blood relatives staying over. I moved away from them for a reason.

Be very careful either way. A lot of bad bad people. You are the exception not the rule. I trust my Wife and my Dog and we both keep an eye on the Wife.

I for one, would open my house to fellow Harley riders to stay, eat, shower, and talk for anyone that needs a place to stay. Maybe I'm crazy? The wife and I always enjoy meeting people on the road, why would it be any different in our home town. Thoughts/
Sure.....come on over......heh heh

"Brotherhood" can be just an unfortunate act of nature. It can be a metaphor implying a bond between people with a similar interest, but before I allow someone in my house while I am sleeping I have to Trust them. Trust has to be earned.

I would be glad to help a stranger caught with a problem out on the road. I'll help them get their bike off the road, I'll see they get a safe camping spot and some good food; but I aint sleepin' with no strange Metaphor in my house.

That said, If someone had Proven themselves to be a Trusted contributor to this forum, the gate to my property would probably be open.

The sad part is is that there really are people who would and do take advantage of good hearted and well meaning individuals. I think the members that are looking at both ends of the spectrum are being realists,no malicious intent, just looking at the possibilities.
That being said if a member is riding thru Saskatoon around suppertime, after a few emails and maybe a phone call to feel each other out, I will get some burgers on,we can clear a spot on my lawn for the tent, driveway for the trailer. We will have a bonfire. Then in the morning breakfast and on our separate ways.
I too believe in brotherhood too, however just owning a bike doesnt mean your automatically in. Good people are everywhere, from all walks of life, and my life is enriched as more good people are in it. The good are tough to find though

In a perfect world....this would be a nice idea. BUT here's what'll happen if you try it:

Best case scenario:

A whole lot of free loaders will come out of the woodwork to stay at your place...espically if your hospitable and feed them. Like moths to a flame.

Then when you need to go someplace....opps!! No one will be interested.

Worst case scenario: You'll be set up, and ripped off...or killed in your sleep.

We could have a sticky where interested people post.
Good luck
Back in the 60's and seventies I hitchiked a lot. Went from Shreveport, La. to LA on my thumb and back. All over Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kaintuck and Tenn. Never had a bad experience. I also picked up hitchhikers, especially service men. Met a lot of cool people. A very few not so cool. i wouldn't do it now even if I was in my 20's. It is a much different world.

You know you and I really are dinosaurs in here and the only 2 who have traveled the sames roads it seems , our stories are close mirrors . I've met lifelong friends who bumped into a tired but funny guy on a bike one day and got to talking , they put him up for a night or a week as few times turned out and not one of them ever regretted it . I still call or send cards to those people who opened their homes and friendship to me over the years .

Times have changed ? not so much as people have and the veil of fear the media is constantly beating into everyone over the last 20 yrs . We only hear about bad things because that's what sells , DRAMA !! not feel good stories .

I feel sorry for all you out there who will never know what the world was like before fear became the daily drug and people lost the talent of being able to read other people in a face to face .
