I have a house in Havasu, and I was planning on riding from there with some friends. I have been at my house out there before when the run is going on, and we actually get alot of bikers in town that ride down. Never been in laughlin during the run though.
Have never been as it was previously "out of reach" until I moved to New Mexico.
To those that have been and continue to go, is it a good rally to attend?
Ok, I know none of the rallies are quite like they "used" to be....but those days are gone. Its within an easy ride for me and since I have never been I thought I might put it on the calendar.
Opinions? Cops dont bother me since I quit years ago. Hotel recommends?
Like I said, I have never been to the run but Harrahs is by far the nicest hotel there IMO, but don't expect Vegas.
LOL! I am surrounded by casinos and dont gamble, so not concerned about it being "Vegas". Have never been in the area so want to see the burros at Oatman, Lake Havasu, and whatever else nearby. Easy shot for me on west I40, a day's ride at most.
Haven't gone for a couple of years but it's no different from any of the big rallies. Long lines, too many throttle blipping a-holes (not to mention the stereos), and everything costs double or triple (or more). Plus greed has reduced vendor deals to a distant memory.
Love the country and this year we'll go down a week or two before and get a room for $cheap. Had all the big rally BS I'm ever gonna need - just can't afford the high dollar rooms any more.

Oatman is definitely a cool town to check out. I go there a couple times a year, and the donkeys wandering the street are pretty cool.

Last time I went was back in the early 90s and Oatman was a lot of fun. The cops didn't seem to bother anyone till it was time for people to leave, has that changed as well?
The thing that irks me is the fact that the production company that put on the "rally" buys up all the rooms, and you're basically forced to buy a 3 or 4 night room package. It's almost impossible to get a room for one night - which is what I like to do. As in, ride down, get a room, party and ride back to Vegas the next day. I did it last year, and did find a room, but paid through the nose for it.
Also, the cop presence after dark was oppressive. They're everywhere, including physically sitting in the middle of almost every intersection. Yes, sitting in the middle of road. It's totally beyond anything rational.
