so....... RUB is a snob that owns a Harley, doesn't work on it and wears new leathers? hope it's not contagious. New leathers take a lot of time in the dryer and draggin behind the wagon, something you can be wearin at the time or not....

so.. in others words.. it's all about attitude. 2 worst attitude stories for you all. I was one of the first few female riders in my neck of the woods. The bike I made history with was my old 83 Shovel. As always I parked with all the guys at the usual summer stomp. I was wandering back from the beer gardens to come up behind this young tightass and his fake triple D bimbo standing by my baby ranting about wanna be bikers, posers, AND above else a chick on a "man's" bike. I stood all innocent and wide eyed for my buddies who couldn't keep a straight face as I clued in... I was the poser. You know... I never said a damn word, just stood there and sipped my beer when he turned around. I thought buddy from Surrey was going to choke to death. Silence is golden in a situation like that.

But this one topped it. The usual pub, where all riders hung out was my favorite spot on the planet. I had my bar stool and all riding gear was automatically stashed behind the bar. This night a rider walked in, looked at me, permission to sit beside me at the bar.
We drank and yapped for hours. This guy was on an Enduro touring Canada... think he was one o those Americans guys.. anyways, he had incredible stories. He had just been in Alaska and we were in deep conversation when he looked at me and said.. "You know, you look like a girl that would like to ride, ever think of it?" Few chuckles from the bar stools and a wink from the bar maid, all of a sudden he lose's it! I mean lose's it, off the stool spittin mad "YOU!? own that bike out front?.. nothin worse than biker chicks that think they are so cool... blinkin harley riders.. worst attitude I've ever seen came from THOSE asswipes.. and..and.. words I had to borrow the bar dictionary for.. and yah know... once again, I never said a word. It's that dry humor you know. When he finally shut up and wiped the spit off his chin.. he saw the funny side and bought me more beers... so see.. sometimes it's far wiser to shut the f**k up cause there's often free beer in it.....

just another way to create separation among individuals:
1-just like people that ride import motorcycles
2-people that use trailers
3-people that ride trikes or similar
4-helmet or no helmet
5-cruisers versus the rice burners
I just appreciate people that support motorcycle riding.

 

LucyonBlack I love your stories. You are right silence is golden. A few of our fellow bikers on this thread could learn from your stories and having taken the high road.

 

The sad thing is alot of them walked from their houses and kept all their toys that they never paid for. I know one guy that has a 200k motorhome, a 100k sandrail, and a 100k boat all from the equity in the house he walked from. Sad **** IMO...

When have they ever been cheap to purchase?
It's called inflation. Wages go up, everything else goes up.

But, to be fair, in the sound byte you pulled out, I was merely noting that these bikes we love are not cheap.

How's the saying go? "Opinions are like a$$holes: we all got 'em and they all stink."

 

I was at a Harley Dealer meeting up with some guys last weekend and a guy pulled in in a Nissan Armada ( you know the huge nissan suv) and parked down out of the way toward the end of the lot. He got out and walked around to the back and reached in and got a vest, a pair of boots and a novelty helmet out which he put on(except the helmet) and then he walked around the edge of the lot and came around the side where a bunch of bikes were parked. He stood around for a few minutes and then put the helmet on and walked toward the door while he was taking his helmet back off like he had just rode in. I suspect that that guy was a RUB. I wish I would have took a video of him.

 

I dont think sad is the word Id use. More like disgusting. I would quit knowing that guy.
