Default Hypocrits?

Ok, I'm confused. I thought that most riders wanted to drive more carefully than most of the cagers for their own safety. However, there was a thread here about the pics where folks take their plate out of the pic. For a brief time it turned to how to avoid red light cameras and several folks chimed in that they ran red lights. Now if someone is out for a ride and sees a cager run a red most of them would be cursing the cager up one side and down the other and maybe even post about it here. However, since you're on a bike it's ok? One argument was that it's not good to sit around and wait for someone to get you from behind, but I'd assume that a bike on the street would have mirrors to allow you to see the person bearing down on you and thus you could get out of the way if necessary.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't go on through those yellow lights if prudent, but red...not a good idea. And condemning others for the same thing you will do....that's just wrong.

You want to know what ticks me off. SItting at a red light, the light finally turns green and I get to go. I take my time and start to take off and then slam on the brakes because some idiot still trying to drive cross traffic through the already red and then some light. I raise a fist and yell at them saying, "Jeez can't you friken see that you had a red light!!" But I have to say it fast because they speed away so it comes out like "hmmfffmmfmmfffmffffff IDIOT!!!!"

Have you noticed that in the last 10 years, people actually view Red lights as mere suggestions now? It is getting friken scary driving through a green stoplight anymore.

I get burned sitting at a red light & no traffic coming in any direction for miles. I have ran those type lights. If we have the technology to take pictures of people who run lights why can't we detect that kind of situation?

On my bike if I am sitting there and the light will not change and there is no one around and it is obvious the light is picking me up I will go through, but I will not blow through a red light just because I am in a hurry and know that the other cars will stop for me.

the enforecment problem in part is that departments are short on LEO's budget cuts etc. So they barely have enough to handle calls, and almost nothing for traffic enforcement

Everyone's a hypocrite about something they say. I've seen people complain about some "******* cager on his cell phone" for almost hitting him when the biker didn't even look over his shoulder to look.

And generally people just get incredibly upset at people that cut them off or just don't see them. And unless you know for a fact that the person does this often then really how can you be mad? Everyone here has made a mistake and cut someone off, almost (or maybe all the way) pulled out in front of someone. People are quick to judge and slow to understand.

I think i know which thread you're talking about with the red light stuff. Just seems ridiculous to me to be worried more about getting caught for running a red light than hitting the side of some vehicle that's just following the traffic light.
