Vision and our minds do lots of thing. Interesting but not a real problem for most people.

I'll have to keep it in mind next time I'm in a rotating intersection with 3 yellow and 1 green dot! (trafffic lights?)

I think the point they are trying to make with that is to constantly be scanning the road and not to get fixated

Glad you cleared that up for us. From now on I'll be scanning for rotating grids with disappearing dots, just in case. I mean, ya just never know....

Update: Went to the MSF website and finally found this. It's included with several other "optical illusions" that have absolutely nothing to do with riding motorcycles. They are simply brain teasers and are nothing more than entertainment.
Disagree. It is a scientific demonstration of the phenomenon they were trying to illustrate. People fixate on something and miss details that would normally be visible.

Interesting. Not fixating on a single object really is a factor in how much situational awareness you have with your surroundings. Working with this on my young teenage daughter and her driving. I'm going to show her this little eye test - thanks for the link.
