A Harley is a Harley is a Harley,to me that will always ring true. The value will always be there just because it is a Harley Davidson.Provided of course the motorcycle is taken care of.Lots of times people sell their Harleys out of need for money and cannot wait, thus the value is down.So many people want a Harley that you can make your money back and usually more, provided you have the time, and you didn't pay too much for the bike to begin with.A lot of factors involved.I for one, have to build my bikes, now, that is how you save money.
I agree with what has been said. You don't see older import bikes around.
As far as investments, the ones that really kill me are the ones who think a Harley is a bank account. They believe they should recover every dollar they have spent when they sell the bike. To me a Harley (or what ever brand floats your boat) greatest value is the joy of exploring, getting together with friends and going or just getting away by yourself. People who love to ride don't go to Physiatrist.
Its not an investment-its a toy and form of enjoyment. I didn't buy it to make money. When I need to make money, I work....
Exactly! Go buy the motorcycle you want, if you really want one. Don't worry about what it may or may not be worth in any given amount of time...just buy it and ride it!!
.......Harley puts out more bikes than Honda does now, and when you consider that Harley only puts cruisers out, while Honda puts out cruisers, sportbikes, dirtbikes, etc., that's alot! .....
I would check that out. Harley doesn't produce more bikes than Honda, it puts out more of a certain class of bikes. I can't remember what they called the class, but it didn't include sport bikes and dirt bikes, etc.

I think the point here is that Harley caters only to a specific crowd so the supply has caught up with the demand. That being said, while the depreciation might be more than it has been in the past, you can still find bikes that are a couple years old that are being sold at the same prices people are paying for new bikes.

I don't know if I can agree with that. Not while used Harley's at the dealer are priced very close to new ones and used metrics are about half what they cost new. Probably not as good as it was but much better than the rest.
