Didn't read the entire thread either, but read enough to know I'm blessed to live where I don't need a trickle charger. Nice of them to throw it in the deal though, just in case. Just took mine in today for the 1,000 mile...hard to belive I've owned it two whole weeks.

sorry to hear the battery wasn't the fix. Have you tried to start it yet? we all want to know. :-) You might have a loose battery cable, make sure to check both ends of the cables, and the grounds especially, check the connections at the starter to make sure they are tight.
I'm thinking you have a loose connection somewhere, at least check all of them, you might be able to find it yourself, and save a trip. If all this fails, you could have a charging problem with the bike, then it's dealer time.
good luck

This morning it is 12.85, a drop of only .01 so that isn't much, is it? Just the security system doing it's job? I'll go out later and look for the fuse in the bike's tender pig tail off the battery, check for loose connections and try to start it.

Looks like it might snow. (Yep, it is. We need it).

If the charger is on green the fuse is fine if hooked up through the pig tail. I will tell you that you need to leave the key fob on or within 3 feet of the bike all the time when sitting for long periods. If you take it away from the bike I was told the alarm searches for the fob & puts more drain on the system. Also, if you plan on leaving your bike in a safe place for long periods, read the manual. There is a "transport mode" that you can set to bypass the alarm. It works for transporting & storage situations preventing the alarm to activate or turn on. This will put less drain on your system. Always use the tender.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q05MgA9O-bg

For the proximity (no button) fobs:

TRANSPORT MODE

1. Turn the ignition switch to IGNITION.

2. Set the Engine Stop Switch to OFF.

3. With an assigned fob within range, turn the ignition switch from IGNITION to ACC.

4. Simultaneously press both the left and the right turn signal switches. This must be done within five seconds of turning the ignition switch switch to ACC.

5. After the turn signals flash once, turn the ignition switch to OFF and the module is armed.

6. Confirmation: Turn signal blinks three times when armed for one ignition cycle.

TO EXIT TRANSPORT MODE

With the fob present, turn the ignition switch to IGNITION to disarm the HFSM. To cancel the transport mode, set the Engine Stop switch to RUN.

There is also a storage mode:

For push button fobs:

- To adjust the length of time delay before going into

storage mode
, enter the configuration mode, then use the fob to send an

Arm command three times, then push the left button, the

signal will flash out the current setting.

1-30 days, 2-60 days, 3-90 days, 4-disabled. Use the left

button to advance the setting and

turn the ignition off to exit.

For non push button fobs consult your manual.

JR - if its not a charging issue, buy an Odyssey battery, hook it up to a Tender, and be done with it. On a serious note - its not healthy to get so riled up - don't sweat the small stuff. Your blood pressure has got to be through the roof. Please go see a doctor as your post gave me the best laugh of my day and I want you around so you can post more!

Your post is great, but your sig line picture somehow makes me feel better about life. Nice . . . . . motorcycle. Thanks.

Okay, I put the tender direct to the battery in the bike and it went green. But when I put the tender to the bike through the pig tail deal, it blinks red. That means to me, based upon what has been said, that the fuse between the two is shot. I’ll take it out later and look at it. What I don’t get is why the tender was steady red (charging), not blinking (bad connection/fuse) if the fuse was shot, and why Harley would just plop a new battery in it and not check to see if the fuse was shot after I told them about the issue with the drive home and the tender and the drained battery. Whatever. I think I’ve figured it out, with your help, so thanks. Maybe it’s just a fuse, I’ll get a new one, hope that is it and press on.

I took this photo a few minutes ago:

I was a team leader at K-Bay and use to call air, arty and navel guns on Kahoalawe (sp?) and Subic. The only time I was on Oki was a week patrolling down a river, up to my chin, under the bank grasses, covered with leaches. It was a fine and pleasant misery. I still do gut checks now and then, but without my team.
