I have consistently got 50 mpg on my 10 Ultra for the past 18,000 miles. Still has the original Dunlap dual compound tire that came with it. I'm headed out on a 4 to 5K tour in June. It looks like it will do that before the wear bars show. Already bought the same tire set for it to mount when I get back. My dealer has a 20% off sale on tires, batteries and brakes every February.
I get 50 mpg on the 12 RGC which did surprise me. The lowest I get is the 44mpg on the V-Rod.
I do care that the price of gas is not justified but if you want to play you must pay. so I won't limit any riding this year. Have the one big tour, Laughlin and Sturgis planned already. Then there is the 2K per bike I set as a goal with each non touring bike. I should have 20K between them this year. I do one thing that most do not. I run 89 octane which is the cheap gas in this area. They all run just fine on it. So if I average 50 mpg for 20K that is 400 gallons of gas. $.30/gal savings amounts to $120 saved. Works for me. I also have cheap insurance and do all my own services all combine to keep ownership costs way down over typical.
I really work hard to stretch my fixed income Social Security check!
I get around 30mpg on my V-Rod, but lets just say I'm not riding it conservatively. I bought this bike in January and got a good deal as the dealer was barely selling one bike a day. Last Saturday I saw the dealer deliver at least 6 bikes since the weather was nice. Bike sales are more affected by sunshine than gas prices.
I get about 40mpg on the nightster but I ride like an ahole. If I go conservative easy to see 45mpg or more. I'm spending like 50-70 a week on gas and my car isn't even that bad. It's not great like some of you are saying 28mpg around town I get about 20 but it's loads better then my jeep was. Plus for a full size sedan that ain't bad.
Can't wait until the summer. Though I have a feeling the days of filling up the bike for 8 bucks are soon gonna be behind me.
