Thanks for the post #.

I read that he was glad he didn't rent a big bike down there after all. It would be super cool to ride down to Cabo but it's also pretty cool not to be dismembered and hung upside down from an overpass.

The yucatan area is still fairly safe, I go to Merida every year due to my wife is from there and visit her family, as for the other parts I would think twice.
also the traffic is horrible in the cities.

Just got back from a trip from CA to San Jose Costa Rica did not encouert any problems cross the Border at McAllen TX.and rode all the way on the Gulf side of Mexico
Them across to the border with Guatemala
Seen some military guarding the main roads never got stop.People were very helpful
When to all the tourist places around Cancun and playa del Carmen the pyramids
And had a great time just take your time and watcht out for the traffic
No different than any other place
And yes that part of the country it's very safe for American Tourist

Ask yourself, would rather travel in Mexico, Detroit or sundry other U.S. urban areas? I have and opt for Mexico👍.

I'd ride down there if I could trailer my bike to the border.

I wouldn't. There's far too many nice places to explore in this country without the fears of corrupt policia, border crossings, food/water poisoning, terrible roads, high theft, poor fuel etc.

Mexican cops are crookeder than the crooks. I wouldn't set foot in that country. I felt safer in Harlem or Crown Heights.

In the early '70's, I lived in Juraez, Mexico. We would go across the border at least once a week to party. We ALWAYS walked across. Now days, I wouldn't set foot in any part of Mexico much less, drive or ride there.

So it's STIHL bad down there? I figured after they all came
up here we could all go hang out there now and it'd be cool.
