We have all heard about the 25 mile Starbucks ride, etc, etc.
I live in Tulsa, OK - Oklahoma City is 100 miles away and there is a 75 mph turnpike connecting the two cities. Needless to say, there is a McDonald's mid-way. Quite often, I will hop on the turnpike, ride 50 miles, have a McDonald's for lunch and ride back home. Thing is, I'm not a big McDonald's fan.
Before the grandkids got older, my son and I liked to go to TWO in Suches for lunch. It's a five day ride (two lanes roads) from western New York state. Sadly TWO is no more; the daughter-in-law won't let my son out to play anyway!
When I first got my Street Glide, me and a buddy rode from Vegas to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for a burger, then came back same day. Just under 600 miles on the 2nd / 3rd day that I owned the bike. I had it in for the 1K Service in 4-Days from the time I bought it.
Sometimes I'd go out on a midnight ride 70 miles or so to the rest stop close to Richmond then grab a cup of coffee and turn around and head back home.
It was relaxing.
One morning my wife asked where I went the night before and I told her I rode out to the rest stop and got a cup of coffee. She said "You rode all the way up there for a cup of coffee? They must have some damn good coffee."
