For a machine that got so much advanced publicity as a performance ride the V-Rod is a slug. Dealers up here can't give the things away. They need to cut some fat off that machine and add some HP & then watch it move. I'd buy one in a new york second if I could squeeze 130+ HP out of it without hocking myself into debt.
Well I have Both. And If I wanna play and go fast, I get on the VRSCSE!!! And If I wanna Cruise, I get on the FLHTCUI! The Best of both worlds!!! LIFE IS GOOD!!!
I know a guy that won a VROD. He really doesn't like his very much. It's a tad bit too tall for him and he doesn't like to lean towards the handlebars when riding. He said he rarely rides it -only to our HOG chapter meetings when folks ask him to. It seems as if the bike is geared more towards the younger people - like the sport bikes.
TO Get their share of the market of peformance minded customers that have the need for speed and would buy metrics if not for the V Rod. A smart buiness move....Harley cav't use their stoneage designs forever. The V Rod was needed.
[personally i think it's kinda like a sport bike and dont understand WHY harley makes it. I like harley as a cruiser.

V-Rod not a SLUG? It is just a hair quicker then a moped. There are very few metrics that can't smoke it with its under 80 lbs. FT. torque & 1130 cc engine. It handles like a tank & is a top heavy uncomfortable bike and those facts are just among a few of the reasons why it isn't selling. It will undergo major change in the next few years until harley gets it right.
I put 500+ mile on one & it was a joke. Sure you can get it to run if you keep the tach pegged.
I think if Harley wanted to make a competitive sportbike the should put the Revolution motor into a Firebolt and promote the Buell line a little more.Instead of HD dealers dropping Buells make them carry them orjust rebrand as a Harley Davidson.
