There's a difference between going fast and aggressive. Fast in a some what straight line and attacking corners. I consider myself as a aggressive rider (as long as I'm familiar with the road and traffic conditions) All round I move out quickly, corner hard and get nowhere in a hurry. But in north Jersey there are so many trucks, cars, people, Police, animals, pot holes and just sh-t on the road I find myself cruising just to find the good road. I ride a FXDB that has it's suspension maxxed out...the bike handles as good as any 600 pound bike can. No apes here. Mids with hinged pegs. I do scrape the exhaust alot.

It seems like I keep losing riders and am limited to my VERY small group of like-minded friends (all 3 of 'em) when I'm not pulling in the reins to tolerate the geezer-gliders and flower sniffers when we're on a group/club run.

As an ex-dirt racer/Limey & sportster rider, I just tend to do what a bike wants to do - which is EXACTLY why I don't own a crotch rocket. Can't survive the tickets.
But I have put a 2 over fork on her, slug over the spring to keep the head up, darkside rear tire, and stage 1 effects with my own design adjustable baffle set for torque. She's more fun to ride now she doesn't feel like sitting on a toad. Head bolts welded under boards for sliders. Lean angles now very similar to a Sporty, one degree more on one side and 3 less on the other.
ABSOLUTELY agree with you on this. Been to Sturgis lately?

I'm getting so sick of riding behind rude slow sightseers who putt along almost always at LESS than the posted limit even when that's ridiculously low to begin with.

Mostly always inconsiderate so they won't even move over to the "right" side of the lane to let you pass in a single lane situation when there's oncoming traffic. Followed idiots like this for miles way too many times as I travel in a large group with my MC. On my own I'll pass them in seconds though. I am NOT liked on the road by these ___________(insert your own thoughts here).

I'm getting worked up here just thinking about this. WE are the minority here you realize. Literally every ride around town in Sturgis and out of town there is like a parking lot for a reason. I've even see these yo-yo's slowing down for a bend in a road, yes, a bend in a road, not a full blown twisty by any stretch.

I'll be replacing my bike within a year or so with a new 2013 or 2014 HD.

What would you recommend for the best handling but touring capable HD out there if you were to get a brand new HD yourself???

So glad to see this post and realize there's what, at least "five" of us now.

Well, I ride the biggest brick of all, Springer softail. It's almost an inch over (not under) in the *** end with the best shocks I can find(for now) and a works shock on the Springer(best out there, for now). Unfortunately most softail riders only want to lower these bikes to look cool and throw handling out the window.Penske and Ohlins don't make a shock for it at this time because of that, sucks!. I've been researching Fox shoxs for Mountain bikes to add a little something to the front end.Think I've found a combo that might help bring this turd to life.I come from dirt bikes back in the day and enjoy tripping people out with this particular combo.Running a Sport bike Caliper up front for braking and a few other little tweaks. I'm getting ready to do a dual disc sport bike set up in the front .I've had very and I mean VERY few people run off from me in the mountains at this point. I ride this brick like a 700 pound dirt bike, always have. I'm sure most guys think it's bullshit or they just don't get it. I have pushed this bike to the limit and beyond, have the scars to prove it. I just flat out love taking something and doing what they say can't be done with it.I've got a 95 engine build planned and I'm going to do a 21 tooth Primary sprocket and a six speed gearing set up. If it works out as planned it should be a real kick in the *** in 1-5 and have the ability to cruise in 6th on the open road just like a stocker, with 120 hp.

So,yeah, I love to ride pretty aggressive.

You guys should just eat a bit of chrome (that you're losing anyway) and try what I did - cut the head off a head bolt and weld it up under the edge of the floorboard as a slider. When it wears down, you still have some metal to weld the next set on - I'm on my fourth set.
Just a ludicrous thought: those same flower sniffers who slow for a bend in the road think we're crazed road hazards on our way to our funerals. Now Harley is even doing commercials to attract soccermoms and assorted straight-lacers.
So, while I think more bikes on the road has it's advantages, there is a downside to this on SO many levels!
Get outta my friggin' WAY, people! Can't say as I ever minded standing out from the crowd. I mean, whilst I'm zooming my way to my upcoming funeral and all that. Heck, I may be. But I'll be grinnin'' when I do.

I hear you guys on this subject. I sold my r6 and my gsxr. Hind sight I should have kept the r6 but when I bought my fatboy I still have to urge to push the bike. I love the fatboy for the cruiser that it is but I feel another sportiness in the future.

i'm not exactly a flower sniffer. i can keep up with most on a harley but i will not do more than the speed limit ever. my drivers license is my life and i like my insurance rates where they are. for those of you who like to take risks i say go for it. just remember one thing...for every ticket or accident that you are involved in becomes a statistic for ALL riders to have to burden. if more riders would be responsible there wouldn't be so many stupid laws and insurance companies wouldn't collect as much of our cash. it is that reason why i ride by myself 99% of the time. if i ride with someone who thinks he/she is on a race track, it will be the last time i ride with them. one more thing while i'm on the soap box. for those of you who choose to do wheelies and other stupid **** on your bikes good luck.
