I like a brisk pace but scraping on the roads out here means an excessive speed, risk of scraping into the other lane or a blind turn in the hills. Plus having a passenger who doesn't like it. I ride with guys that do go fast and we have no issue riding together.

Straight lines though - I ride fast and hard.

I ride hard and so does my wife. when I taught her to ride I made damn sure she didn't ride "like a girl".
last year she got the best compliment yet. a young dude came up to her after a run and told her that he admitted he groaned out loud when he saw there was going to be a girl riding her own included , then spent the ride just trying to keep up with her lol.

This is me a few years back on my pit bike. Would it be aggressive enough if I learned to do this on my Springer?

I think I ride my bone stock forty-eight pretty hard. Maxed it out a few times at 120. Commuting on the freeway I hold 90ish for stretches. Do you guys think I'm beating on it too hard? I'm getting a stage 1 setup soon which I hope helps the top end where the bike really needs it. I figure a bike with a 1200cc engine should be able to handle being ridden pretty hard.

I re-read this article every year, and recommend it to my students in my MC safety classes.

http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/fl...sch/index.html

I practice it whether on my wide-glide, my zx-14, my ktm in SM trim, scooters, etc. Gave up the Big Number blasts a few years back when I realized the zx only really started getting interesting in a straight line when I went over 120. Having seen the high-side of 180 (at the track) I figured I'd tone it down a bit. Too much at stake, including my job.

I am honing my floorboards to razor sharpness, and yeah the sound changes when you get off the 'boards and onto the support brackets. On the other hand, I am not one who thinks that gauge labelled "MPH" measures how much fun I'm having. I think "perceived speed' is what matters. 80 mph feels faster on my harley than my suzuki; 110 on the old shovel and things are happening!

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow.

I am too old for my bike to have loud pipes, or scraped floor boards.
I guess I'll side with Dickie on this one. I am a speed limit kind of a
guy.

120 is my cruising speed on a 600.

Well aggressive driving in New York can mean something different. But since you mean ride fast - if I know the road in its current state yes----=================but I don't go over 80 on a secondary 'cause I would have to shift to 4th gear.=======http://youtu.be/Cxaxkp9k1xc
Oh and wideglides don't have much of a lean angle. For the record I sped up the recording and photoshopped the speedo.

I rode sportbikes for years and getting on a bagger did nothing for slowing me down!
