Default question about a whine

Is it normal to hear a whine between 1K and 2K rpm's?

It seems to be coming from the primary and it is not real loud, kinda like the whine a supercharger makes but just loud enough for me to notice.

I just had the cams out last week and replaced the tensioners so I am a bit paranoid with noises since this is the first time I have been inside the motor even though I was not in that side of the motor that the whine is coming from.

I looked in the service manual and I see there is a tensioner in the primary. does it have a wear issue like the cam tensioners?

I also just changed the primary oil when I did the engine oil last week.
The motor is super quiet...which is maybe why I can hear it whine?

Thanks for any and all input
Dan

No, it's the Needles HWY just outside of Sturgis. Same place where you ride amongst the buffalo.

I just did the hydralic tensioners on my 05, and noticed the same sound as you. I also did the spring loaded primary tensioner and assumed that was where the sound was coming from.

I think it sounds kind of cool, but I am going to inspect that tensioner next oil change.
