Considering all the forums/chat places I am at, I personally appreciate that someone is paying attention to what is on the boards. Although we are an open to a variety of opinions, I was sort of concerned that it was a troll posting because of the nature of the rant from a newbie. Usually, newbies lay low and offer 'small talk' for their first posts and get to know everybody and spend some time before loading up and firing a post that board participants feel like they had to 'defend' who they are. And that is what moderators are for - to see where things might be heading and to make those calls. Thanks
I pulled that thread because of it's content. I felt that it was demeaning to people and we have a great bunch of people here that I don't think they deserve to be put down by somebody that just joined and on his second post starts the name calling. Didn't see any reason it should be left up there other wise it could have turned into a flame war after a while. Don't like to have to do this but I've seen on other sites where it festers like an infection after a few posts. 99.9 % of us enjoy HD Forums for what it is, a place to get information about our passions and we would like to keep it a great place to visit without the name calling or profanity and such.
Howdy Joe, I posted a reply to the thread that was posted by that newbie, but it didn't bother me about what he was saying because I felt that he was just venting. Unless I missed something, I don't know which one of our long term members that he went after. I guess that sometimes my skin is a little thicker than others, but I understand venting because we all do it at one time or another. Maybe you'll get your chance next time to rip into somebody.
I agree, we have a diverse group of men and women here. I see alot of newbie's coming aboard and since we don't know them, or their riding style or incomes ...a positive forum is the only way to go.
Thanks to the moderators for keeping things under control.
i thought that post was pretty lame, and i responded with a little harshness. felt to me like he was saying i need his permission or approval to ride a harley. if it was my fault the post got yanked, im sorry. that RUB crap just irks the crap out of me.
