Default Corbin Seats

Got this in a newsletter from DirectParts, one of the internet suppliers I use. Strange (stupid?) move on Corbin's part.

Corbin forbids use of images on the internet

In a rather surprising move, Corbin seats have banned the use of any of their trademarked images, photos and copyrighted text on the Internet. Attempts to discuss this with Mike Corbin were futile and cryptic. His last reply after telling us that applied to all shops was "Just need to be independant. Web distorts information for it's benefit."

Well, all I can say is Huh? We have been with Corbin for many years and this is a surprising move as it can only hurt sales and just does not make sense. Unless he is referring to comments on on-line forums that seem to question the high prices, poor quality and questionable support and feels this is the answer to his woes.
This is quite a contrast to what Mustang does. They go out of their way to please the customer and build quality in every seat. If it is not right, they will fix or replace it.

That's odd on corbins part but I guess he has his reasons, I've had his seats on the last 4 bikes now and I think that aside from being firm that they are a very good seat in fit and comfort.

Last year when I had my 04 1200r Sportster I ordered a Corbin solo seat. When it arrived I took it out of the box, moved the ECU onto their special mounting bracket and installed the seat. It had the fancy new key locking mechanism. When I put my fingers under the seat and lifted the seat came off the bottom notch and lifted up. While it did not come fully off the bike it would not stay in the locked down position either. I called customer service and was told that a technician would call me back. Never happened. I called back a second time and was put through to a technician. When I told her my problem she asked me to hold. When she got back on the phone I was told that it was a esult of Harley's poor mfg tolerances and that I needed to shim the special mounting post that came with the seat. I tried one washer without success. Two washers, three washers, four washers and still it would not stay locked. I called back again and told them I wanted to return the seat and why. Two or thrre weeks after returning the seat I still did not see a credit on my credit card. I called customer service to see why not and I was told that the seat was in accounting. HUH!!!! After a huge hassle and not getting anywhere I called their Florida office and told them that if I did not get my money back ASAP I was going to file a disoute with my credit card company. The guy in Florida was very apoligetic and actually very good. I finally got my money back.

As a result I would NEVER buy anything else from Corbin!

While a good product is very important to me I value good customer service as much or more. Anyone or any company can make a mistake where a defective item gets past their Quality Control guys. However there is NO EXCUSE for poor customer service.

SC_Compact,

Sorry you had that kind of trouble, I have had good results from Corbin, both in their seats and the few times I have talked to them on the phone, in fact I had a seat made for my old metric and even though they had a seat in stock, the customer service person told me I could get a stiched pattern for the same money, gave me a expected ship date and I got it when they said I would. My friend put one of the lockables on his SE EG and it fit very nicely. I'm not pitching the seats, just giving my experience with the company and their products.

Yeah, I had nothing but good results from Corbin seats and CS. I guess there will always be a problem with somebody everywhere you go. But in my experience on my three HDs I have had it has been great and I would not buy anything else. Although the thread subject is a little disturbing.

I just installed the Corbin Dual touring seat (heated) on my 05 Ultra. Had a Corbin on my VTX and loved it!
