In most states, if you hit an illegally parked vehicle, it's your fault for not having your car under control, not paying attention, etc. Hard to believe, but true.

So for one lousy ticket(I was not interfeering with anyone) and as has been said many times here, freeing up a spot for someone else, that shopping center has lost thousands of dollars in buisness from me.

Now I just park in a full slot in the middle - I have a Tri Glide so no one else can slip in beside me.
I hope you didn't park your Tri-Glide in an end cap...

I take up two parking spaces in any lot, yeah.....park sideways taking up as much room as I can, cause I'm special....not!

I park in end caps when they are painted out and I also park on sidewalks when there is a big enough area that people can walk by easily. I don't give a **** what you naysayers think about it either. If there is designated motorcycle parking...that is the first place I try for. I think it rude that you'd take up a whole parking spot with your bike if you don't have to. Which of us is more correct? And now that you've answered that in your head, what gives you the right to think one is greater than the other?

I never thought of it as a selfish, pompous, whatever negative attitude you wanna call it reason either. I do it because 1. it is convenient to me 2. free up a parking spot for someone else. (yes, that is actually and purposely one of the reasons I do it)

To those that have said it or think it, please show proof that it is illegal to park a motorcycle on a sidewalk.

Man some of you guys are pretty harsh. I park on the cross-hatch on occasion. Last time I did one of the guys at Wally World told me to pull over in the big open area on the front of the building where they push the buggies back into the chute for the store. HUGE area next to the garden center and nothing at all around me. He said, it will be safer parked over here than out there. I thought it was pretty cool of him and it even impressed me that he was only about 19 y.o. Most kids that age would have never thought that way.

I don't think I am any more special than the next guy is either. But if I was riding my bicycle to Wally I would park it in the cross hatch also and no one would think twice about it.

And in TN it is not illegal to even speed on private property. I worked security for our local mall when I was younger. We had a posted speed of 15MPH. If the police were on the property and caught someone driving 25MPH and there were no cars or people around then they could do nothing but ask them to slow down. They can write tickets for Firelanes and Handicaps. They can also get you for reckless endangerment if your fast speed could injure another person or property. But, just basic speeding is not applied due to it not being a public roadway.

I've always parked in full parking spots and never gave it any thought.

Besides, my Limited is probably bigger than a lot of the eco friendly "smart" cars people are driving anyway.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. People get worked up over some pretty goofy stuff.

Benway, no. Since I got it, I only park in car spaces.

Since reading these posts - I've got a new attlitude. Screw trying to help someone else out by parking in an un obstructive area that hurts absolutely no one, but DOES help at least one other person(the one I freed up a spot for). So screw them - if they have a problem with that - take it up with all the uppity self rightious do gooders who never have done anything wrong and who call anyone who does try and help out, douchbags. Sorry we're not perfect like you and we don't fall into lockstep behind you. Here's a little hint = GET A LIFE AND CHILL OUT.

You appear to have one of those reading comprehension problems where you only read what you want it to say, not what's actually said.

So, you never answered douchebag... do you ever go over the speed limit? You do know you're not supposed to, don't you? I guess you must feel that you're special, eh?
Again, you miss the point and further prove it. You think you're something special. End of story, IMO.

Let's see,
A: park in a designated spot like normal people do
B: park where I'm not supposed to and in such a way that creates a hazard for everyone else because I think I'm a bad *** and/or I have something to prove and/or I need the attention?
Hmmm, I choose... wait for it... wait for it... A!
And now that you've answered that in your head, what gives you the right to think one is greater than the other?
Uhhh... because it's common sense.

Most who do it think the same way you do. You either have an ax to grind, something to prove, or truly don't realize how it makes you look.
To those that have said it or think it, please show proof that it is illegal to park a motorcycle on a sidewalk.
Motorcycles are considered "motor vehicles" and have to abide by the same laws as cars, truck, etc. So, would you park your car on the sidewalk, even though there was PLENTY of room for people to walk by and then act surprised when it got towed or ticketed?

heheheh, it's Tuesday and I'm bored!

Come on Man, you have to admit that threads like this are actually GOOD for the forum on some level. It keeps people interested, keeps people talking, shows a lot of different opinions & different personality types, etc., etc. The entertainment value is exceptional!
Why don't you take you douchbag hatred out on the perfectly fit people that park in handicap spots???
Oh Geez, a completely different situation, but don't get me started on those bastards! HAH!
