Last year I let my inspection sticker run two months late. There is a new indy shop in town and the owner took me right in and inspected with a cost of $20
At that point I told him that I will need a couple of new tires in the spring. Last week I brought the bike in for the tires. Figureing I had promised and it's good to support a local shop.
Didn't shop around for prices. Saturday he installed two new whitewalls on my 07 Road King. Cost was $699.00. I questioned this because most of this cost was the price of the Dunlop WW. This guy says the cost of tires have risen considerably over this last year.
Went on line and found Dennis Kirk and JP prices were half of what I was charged.

So, what's your point? You didn't bother to get a price ahead of time! How is that the indy's fault??
Plus, everything is cheaper online and if that's where you wanted to buy your tires, you should have done the research ahead of time.
Wow! Seems high to me but it has been a year since I bought tires! I know they weren't that much! I usually pull my wheels and take them in. It saves on labor!
if you want to see if you were ripped off, then call your local hd shop and get a quote for the same work that you had done, with the exact same tires. if its more than that, then the indy didn't rip you off, he saved you x dollars. if it's cheaper, then the indy also didn't really rip you off, you just failed to do your due diligence. if you don't check prices elsewhere, and ask how much upfront, then it is what it is. it isn't a rip off if you agree to it.

+1 Never get work done by anyone without getting a quote up front. Nothing wrong with price shopping and you can be damn sure your Indy does it.
I can't in good conscience do work for someone and not tell them about how much it is going to cost UPFRONT. Even if they don't ask I am still going to tell them. But that is me and not the particular Indy. But like the others have said always, always shop around.

Yeah, you should have checked around before you took it in. It's not that bad though.Regular price, even on the internet for the tires I have looked at is about 350 for both and mounting them on the rim is about 50 per tire. So the labor is kinda steep but it could have been worse....live and learn.
I'm surprised you left your bike without even asking the price?
damn, that's asking to get forked... Can't imagine getting any service work done
