Can someone let me know what the problem i am having might be related to....
2008 Street Bob
My current battery is less than 9 months old. I dont keep my battery on the tender all the time, i ride it enough that the battery stays OK. Ive been riding a lot more frequently now that the weather is getting better too. I noticed recently that it seems to take a bit more to get the bike started and it just doesnt sound right when starting.
Ive also noticed when driving at night that the light seems to have a bit of a flicker to it at certain times and the engine seems to kind of run sluggish and feel like its powering down. Well, the other day the bike just completely died as i pulled into the driveway, and trying to restart it, it just clicks. I hooked up the batter to a charger that i have real quick and it seemed to be ok, but it wasnt the right charger for the battery, so i didnt leave it on long enough to be sure, i could just tell it wasnt completely shot. So now i have a bike that wont start and the battery seems like its OK. Anyone got any idea why that might be?
You might check the voltage regulator and/or the wires from it up to the battery. It seems like a few years ago I experienced something similar to what you're describing, and it was one of the wires from the regulator that had broken off/worn away, around one of the stake-on connectors close to the regulator.
well, i took the battery out to test it and it seemed ok, put it back in and it seems to be firing up OK now. Mustve been loose somehwere. Sure didnt feel like it when i took it off though. ill keep an eye on it.
