Dead Battery!
Pulled the bike out of the garage yesterday morning to go for a ride, turned the ignition on and.............................NOTHING!
the battery was stone cold dead, don't know what could have killed it because I was riding it last Saturday and everything was fine.
I have left it for much longer than a week and it always started right up, no problems.
I had to charge it for most of the day before it would even try to crank, after It was charged enough, Itook it for a ride yesterday afternoon, when I got home I put the battery tender on it and this morning the battery tender hadthe "green" fully charged light lit.
it starts right up, but still cranks a little slower than I remember before the battery died.
I'm thinking the battery took a dump...[:'(]
whatever it is, it's still under warranty!

Bad Voltage Regulator...
Some go bad, like mine, didn't know it. It was just putting out 12 volts.
Not enough to charge the battery, just enough to "Maintain" the battery.
Killed my 2 year old Sears Diehard Battery.
Some voltage regulators "SPIKE" upwards to 24 volts.
If mine had done this it would have "FRIED" mywires and more...
I was lucky.
Changed the voltage regulator, put in a new "Harley GEL-CELL" and
Now, I'm a "Happy Camper"

Deuce,
The same thing happened to me twice, and 3 months apart, most recently as this last Sunday. The funny thing is, and I don't have any idea if this has anything to do with the dead battery, it happened after I put the ThunderMax on my bike. I'm trying to get ahold of ThunderMax tech support now to see if the ECM draws power when the igintion is off. The worst part I'm having is that it appears to be an intermintant problem.

hey Deuce,
wondering if you ever got satisfactory resolution to your battery problem. i seem to be experiencing the same issue after installiation of TMax auto tune. i had my shop do the install of the TMax and the VH Full Radius 2-1 exhaust on my 07' SE Springer. all seemed to be working well for a couple rides. i let the bike sit for about 10 days and the battery is stone cold dead and won't even take a charge. info you can provide beyond what i see on this thread is appreciated.
cheers..........Bill

.
- put a voltmeter (or multimeter) between your battery's
posts.
- at fast idle , it should read between 13-14 volts.
- if not , its a charging fault (regulator/stator).

replaced the battery today. i'll have to wait and see if it dies again quickly. if it does, then i'll start blaming the ThunderMax ECM. i hope it doesn't come to that because it really makes the bike feel as if it runs a whole lot better.
cheers......
cheers......
spoke1098, i'm having the same problem (currently charging the battery for the third time). read in a post that the 4.5 firmware fixes this, but it didn't for me.
if you or anyone finds a solution please share it with us.
thanks,
