As I pulled up to an intersection today, I looked left and then right. As I looked right I saw a guy sliding on the pavement and a small dog running away. I stopped my truck in the middle of the road (to keep somebody from running over the guy) and got out and ran over. It shook me up about as much as it did him. He was up and walking around and I helped him get his 07 Street Bob up and out of the way. One of his shoes was in the road, so I got that up and took it over. By now traffic was backing up. He asked if he should call the Police (he was still in a daze) and I told him yes since insurance would be involved (I made that mistake before). As soon as 911 was called, the deputy and EMC was there. He just had a small amout of road rash on the elbow and leg shin, but he got checked out anyway.
His tank was dented, shifter and mirror bent and handlebars too. I put the lens back on the turn signal. That was about all the damage to the bike.
I am 57 and he looked to be about 45ish. He came out OK but it is a 20 MPH zone. The dog that took him out is about the size of a big cat. If a 7 lb dog can do that to a guy quite a bit younger than me.........Well it has me thinking.
ANYWAY, I just thought I would share. Watch out for those dumb dogs!
Lived in a trailer park couple decades ago, was a damn mutt that used to come out and try to bite your feet on bikes, was fine otherwise. Almost put me down a couple times darting in and out and almost under the bike. I hated doing it, but one sharp boot to the **** and he never chased or snapped at me again.
Had a small pit come after me on an around the block ride when I was tuning a few weeks back. got near the back of the bike, I pulled the clutch and twisted the wick, hard. Now, the bike is borderline too loud, I ride last when riding with friends, won't start it in the garage etc. Well, I tell you what, that dog damn near crapped itself in the road. Looked like it ran smack into a brick wall. Felt bad, but was glad I didn't have to hurt it and even happier it didn't hurt me.
