Back in December, my wife purchased the saddle bag speaker lids for my Street Glide from eglide goodies. No speakers or amp, I figured I would get them after tax season was over.
I am now ready to buy the 500W amp and Rokker speakers from Shawn at Mr. VTwin. Note that I had previously bought the front Rokker speakers and 250W amp from J&M. I am selling the 250W amp to a friend and he has already purchased a set of Rokker speakers for his bike from J&M through Dr. VTwin.
Shawn has been great, get no mistake. However, J&M will not sell me just the speakers and the amp. I can get the amp, but not just saddle bag speakers unless I buy the speaker and saddle bag lid kit from J&M, lids that I already have and are being painted as I write this. Or, as an option, I can send the painted lids to J&M, they will install the speakers and send them back to me. Am I missing something here.?
I would like to do business with Dr VTwin due to their great service and prices. I am being forced to buy the speakers elsewhere. Either way, if I buy the speakers through eglide goodies or Rock N' Tops, I will be getting J&M speakers.
On a side note, I'm considering the speaker lids from eglide goodies. How's the construction/fitment appear to be? Any input as to quality/construction appreciated.. Thx
I think you answered your own question. J&M just wouldn't get my business. It amazes me how many companies are wiling to lose your business in efforts to get more money out of you, rather than work with you and end up with repeated business in the future.
Have you flat-out asked them why? I'm curious to hear their answer to this.
On a related story - For the longest time, I tried to buy the backrest pad that Yaffee sells with his chop-chop tour pak. But I could never get anyone there to locate a prt number for it, alone. Eventually, I asked why, and was told it's a part of the entire kit, and their supplier won't seperate the kit.
There may be a reason on the J&M situation, similar to this. I'm not saying it's valid in our eyes, but that's just the way it is sometimes.
So nix the J/M speakers if they won't sell them without their lids. There are many other brands of speakers out there. I bought the 6x9 polk marine 3 way speakers for my saddle bag lids. I also run the J/M 500W amp. They rock!
ps... J/M is a great company. They stand behind their products and give great after sale support. I totally endorse and recommend them if anyone is looking at their stuff.
