I need a flag pole to mount to my bike for Patriot Guard duty. I have an '07 RG and would like to mount on rack behind seat. What diameter is that rack, and where is a good place to buy the flag pole?
Thanks for the help.
I used pvc tubing for my Electra Glide...............also on wife's Street Bob.......works great! Looks good. Easy on-easy off. Holds strong at highway speeds with flags furled/covered.
This is a CHEAP and QUICK fix if you have a laydown license plate. The typical, window lip mount flags (Harley or generic...I have a generic) will slip over the license plate bracket and stand straight up vertical. The flags are durable as they are designed for high speed auto use. You won't cry if you lose it. And there is virtually no chance of damage to your bike due to mounting or unintended dismount. They are cheap and plentiful.

You talkin about one of the smaller flags, or are you wanting to mount the 3x5 flag? If it is the 3x5 flag you are wanting to mount, I don't hardly think that a window clip type flag mount will cut the mustard.
The Laydown license plate frame is "thick". So thick that the plate/tag itsef is sort of recessed into it. If you take the cheapo car flag and clip it over the tag,it kind of "grabs" the tag, and stays attched. If you don't have a deep recess, I would think a couple of heavy duty rubber bands or a zip tie would secure it. The angle on mine makes the flag perfectly straight. It almost looks it was designed to be there, and the tag is still readable. The design of the clip just locks it in tighter the faster you go. It is definitely NOT big enough to dismount and carry at a PGR function. I think mine is about 18" x 12".

for flying 3x5 flags I built my own out of PVC. If I had of had a reciever trailer hitch I would have just built a bracket similar to the one Rivco sells that slips in the reciever. I while back I put on the saddlebag filler pieces and got the wrong ones.. I got the ones with the notch in them for certain saddlebag rails but figured what the heck no one will notice... glad I did now cause the PVC piece I built slips in just right. If you dont have the filler strips though you could still make it and have it slide under the brace that holds the saddlbag gaurds just as well. I took a few quick pics a second ago, didnt bother to put the flags in the holder, just the holder on the bike. Its made where I can add two more holders if I wanted 4 flags.... mostly just made it that way cause it made the dimensions and angles come out a little closer to what I thought I wanted. I zip tie it to the signal bar to make sure it doesn't move around when riding. It will clear the tourpack just fine, wouldn't work on a bike with tourpack if the tourpack wasn't quick release though... the way mine fits I have to pop the tourpack up to get it on/off... could probably make the pole holders shorter and get away with tourpack on though. Got fiberglass poles from Lowe's had it up to 80 MPG with flags unfurld and it all held together...still paranoid with it though... saw to many people break wooden flag poles on last PGR mission.... scary with 50 bikes and someone in the middle has a flagpole break.
