I disagree. I have ridden in group & as road captain, both lead & shotgun. I think the road captaining is fun. Especially shotgun. The lead is very regimented & orderly. Takes discipline. Shotgun is great, keeping everyone together, occasionally roaming like a herding dog, much more freewheeling.

Anyway, there ya go, MHO

I cant see how all the extra responsibility would make the ride fun anymore. Not for me.......

Anyone know of a ‘guide” that describes the roles and responsibilities of being a Road Captain?

Basically looking at becoming a Road Captain some time in the future in our local chapter. Wondering if there was any document that discusses what the roles and responsibilities are for the different positions (i.e. lead Road Captain, Scout, Sweeper, etc.) …

Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks in advance!

blocking traffic at intersections until everyone in the group gets through
HOG rides are not permitted to block traffic anywhere in Alaska unless there has been prior arrangements with the local law enforcement. Usually that means we have police participation in the parade.

We had a guy who thought being a "road captain" meant he was able to direct the flow of traffic at his whim.

The ticket he got proved otherwise.
