I have an HJC FS-3 DOT and SNELL approved.
eBay $70 + $13 Shipping for XXL Black, which is what mine is. Although many colors and sizes are available. Smaller is even less expensive.
They come with both a visor and a flip up clear shield. I also have a FF Shoei and a FF Arai as far as comfort goes this helmet compares favorably (as in the same as) the Arai and the Shoei.
I recommend the Bell 500 Custom. Lighter than some of my half helmets and very comforable. You guys asked for pictures so don't complain about the ugly mug
I have the Bell 500. . .very comfortable and a small amount of lift around 70mph but it could just be my noggin. My only gripe with the Bell is the quilting inside makes my head look like a checkerboard for about 10 minutes after taking it off. Get some interesting looks walking into a store with that pattern on my forehead.
I got the Rockhard American Classic a few months ago. It is breaking in nicely and I am happy with it. The dorky, mushroom, 1/2 shell has been banished to a garage shelf.
Best looking is subjective. I have an HJC carbon fiber helmet like this one that I like. It's fairly light, with good ventilation. You can also get a flip up face shield for them that is very useful for touring, it keeps the rain from beating you to death, and protects against sunburn. I keep the visor on most of the time, but put the face shield on when I tour. It also has a removable, washable liner, which is a must have in my opinion. On those long tours in the summer the helmet can get pretty funky after a few days. Just pop out the liner and rinse it out in the sink, and hang it up over the AC in the motel. Next day it's like having a new helmet.
Many think Shoei makes the most comfortable helmets, every review I've ever read raves about them, but they are quite a bit more expensive. I may try one for my next helmet.
I also have this one. Same as the HD Ultra Jet Carbon fiber. But I don't think they are being manufactured any longer. Nobody has stock with the exception of a few small and medium. I got mine gently used on e-bay. It's not "cool", but it's very light and comfortable.
