Default Hauling bikes

Hi,

Just bought a 30' toy hauler and do you tie the bikes down while on the kick stand or have them up right like you would a dirt bike?

If you tie them down on the stand it will eventually break or poke through the floor. If it's a side stand the bike will also be off balance and tend to twist when you brake. It's not designed for a 800lb+ bike bouncing up and down. When you tie them down upright, you partially compress the suspension. It allows it to bounce without coming loose or stretching your tiedowns and doesn't stress anything. Just don't bottom out the suspension.

I agree - Up with a chock. Make sure the chock is one that is bolted down but can be removed easily.

One of my friends trailered a bike to Sturgis last year with the stand down and weight on the stand. All of the bouncing ruined the kickstand spring. The spring was stretched and came apart. The bike was disabled because the stand would not stay up. We located a replacement spring a day later.

Go to rv.net and go to the Toyhauler section. I asked and learned a ton of toyhauler/trailer stuff there. IMHO a TH is one of the best ways to travel when ya gotta keep the whole family happy.
