I use a clean microfiber towel dampened with hot water. Best to clean the bugs immediately after the ride before they dry on. If the shield is really gross, I remove it and throw it in the shower under a warm spray for a few minutes and use soap and a wet sponge.
Afterward, a coat of your favorite wax or some Novus #1 plastic clean and shine works well.

Bugs on windshield. Take towel, any towel just don't let wife see, soak in warm to hot water and place on bugs. Let sit for five to ten minutes. Remove towel, bugs come off with a little polishing, hide towel from wife. Polish shield with Plexus. Ride again to find more bugs. Repeat.

Ammonia in Windex and most other glass cleaners will eventually turn your windshield cloudy. Glass Plus does NOT have ammonia in it and is safe to use.
Lemon Pledge polish, (or generic dollar store brands), is great to use on your windshield and all over your bike. Spray it on, with a little extra on the big bugs, leave it for a few minutes, then polish. The bugs come right off!

Lovebug season here in FL so I'm loving my windshield right about now. I use a soft cotton towel and warm soapy water on it. I'll have to try waxing it and see how that works.

Got a new helmet for my birthday, and so far this season I've had to clean more bugs off it than I had to all last season with my old helmet! Some big splattering ones too, like they're filled with mustard or something...
