I put a windshield and other new accessories on my Nightrain, and now I find and splatter all the biggest juicy bugs possible.... All it took was a windshield....
Anybody else have happen??

Only difference with bugs I can see is that now I clean the windshield instead of my shirt/jacket. If you want to see how big a pile of bug goo can flow down in your lap, ride a naked bike through the Everglades at night. My pile spilled over my thighs.

Stock up on Windex...you're gonna need it. I have to clean mine 2-3 times/week just to be able to see. However, I never take it off because I would much rather have to clean the windshield than clean bug spatter off my face & shirt every time I stop. Windshield has saved me from catching a rock to the face more than once & has also deflected a couple birds...I never ride without it.

I have heard not to use Windex on windshields, have heard it causes fogging, so I don't use it.

I wax my windshield and bugs & debris wipe right off with a warm cloth.

Cleaning: A soft cloth rag (not paper towels!) and warm water. I have used a little dish soap when it was really bad. When it's dry, I wax it both sides with a cream wax, using soft cloth for both applying and buffing. The wax cuts down on the light scatter at night, and I'm sure it protects a little, too. Water really bounces off the waxed windshield, too.

The problem with Windex (or other glass cleaners) is that they have ammonia in them. This is bad for the windshield. The best windshield cleaner I have ever found is Lemon Pledge. It gets the bugs off great and leaves a nice slick surface that future bugs don't adhere to.

BTW...you can get Lemon Pledge wipes at Wal-Mart or lots of other places that sell Lemon Pledge. A pack of them stashes easily in the saddlebag and they work great out on the road to clean your windshield. Just use the wipe to clean the windshield and finish off with a microfiber towel. You can also use Lemon Pledge to clean your glasses. And...if you've been a regular on this forum for very long you know that lots of folks...myself included...rant and rave about how great Lemon Pledge is to clean up your entire bike. Try some...you won't be disappointed.

I use PRIST acrylic aircraft windshield cleaner with microfiber towels only. Used it for years with excellent results. You can only find it at airport FBO stores but to me it's worth it.
