OK, I want to either paint or powder coat my windshield braces, and brackets - so I took it completely apart. I didn't know there was an adhesive used on the braces until I really started tearing into it. Now that I have it apart, I'm wondering what type of adhesive to use when I put it back together.
I'm guessing it's a rubbery silicone type adhesive to minimize vibration. Anyone else ever take these apart?
If so, what did you use to re-assemble it? Do I need to use anything at all?
Also, has anyone had theirs powder coated?
I know this is a lot of questions, but isn't that what this place is for? (I searched the hell out of this before coming here - nothing)
The adheasive stayed on the brackets when I changed mine so I just put the sticky brackets back on the new shield. The stickey stuff isn't much more than double sided scotch tape IMHO
