This modulator screams. Look at me, I am the most important thing in the world, and I don't care if I am distracting the whole world. Annoying. Check 1:49 for landing strip lights.
I remember when I was in the 82nd Abn, these jumpmasters were always telling us, if you don't have any fear you should not be jumping. Well I got in 30 jumps and was never scared and never had a bad jump. Some of the guys had the shakes on every jump and they were f'n up all the time landing in trees and whatnot.
Same goes with these modulators .. you see the same guys in hi-viz suits with wrap around full face helmets, crazy blinking lights all over the place. These guys must ride in fear. Yeah, I've heard the same thing from some guys as what those jumpmasters were saying, if you don't have any fear you shouldn't be riding.
F' that. Just use common sense and pretend the guy in the car/truck can't see you or they aren't paying attention. Being overly cautious takes the fun out of motorcycling. We are all going to die someday, if we die doing what we love, then we won.
I remenber when I was in the 168th airborne/seaborne/spaceborne codeagotha all world fing world leage and carried a badge in Mayberry! I fought the epic "Battle of Poontang" . ............... and lost!!
I were'nt skeerd of nuttin, damn the lights!!! Turn left in front of me and I'll clean your damn clock.
I ride with a modulator ..... others on this forum say I'm gay, an idiot, a fool, skeered ..... NO
modulators distract drivers , pretty much bottom line. If they feel they need them , then most likely they lack defensive driving skills and should be on a bus

I don't think that just because someone finds something distracting or annoying means there's a need for anger management or are being unreasonable. I find them as such, but seeing them doesn't ruin my day and I prefer to not have one behind me on a group ride. Ill-behaved donor-cycle pilots and texting bimbos are much more annoying.
Nothing will ever replace riding safely and with good habits. Do modulators make a bike more visible... I don't know for sure but I believe not, based on my own experience as a rider and driver. I believe that part of the problem are the cagers who have absolutely no clue as to the significance of a modulating headlamp. I have a headlamp and 2 driving lamps on the front of my sled. I don't think a spastic lamp is going to make me any more visible IMHO. Now I do see virtue in modulating brake lights like the ones that blink 2-3 times when you brake. That makes much more sense.
..
modulators are annoying but loud pipes are not? How stupid is that? Just remember...a deaf person can get a drivers license, but a blind person cannot.
I imagine that the same types of discussions were common when the govt was debating the law requiring motorcycle headlights to be on all the time. Probably a lot of old-timey bikers who were strutting around and saying how they should be the ones to decide when & where their headlights were turned on, and that a daytime headlight was "gay".
Yes, there has to be a point where you say "enough is enough" with the safety equipment, but that should be up to the rider. I think neon green safety vests are gay, but the BMW guys love 'em. Oh well, good for them. Knock yourself out.
Most important thing is that you have a safe ride & go home each night to your family. I don't care if someone thinks my bike is an emergency vehicle and looks twice at it, then gets annoyed because they realize I'm just a biker.
