I am in exactly the same situation. I sold my bike and am now looking for a nice Road King. I have searched extensively trying to find a nice used one to save some money but almost everyone is asking more for 05s & 06s than I can get a new 07 for. Unless I stumble onto something soon I will probably be buying new.

cuda, really depends on you I would say. I bought new because it was my first Harley and I really wanted to be the sole owner of my first. With that being said there are lots of deals out there now if you are willing to do a little searching, with tons of people wanting to upgrade to the 96ci and 6 speed. I also really wanted one of the quarterly custom colors HD offers, so new was for me. Good luck in whatever you choose though.

Bought my 06 RK Classic used. My brother ordered it in March and took delivery on May 15th. He put $6,000.00 down had the SE stage 1 kit put on it and all together about $2400.00 worth accessaries on it. He ran into some hard times and called me up so on Thanksgiving I picked it up for $13,600.00 with 2950 miles on the clock. I wasn't in the market for a bike just yet I had just sold my last one that I owned for 7 years but the deal was to good to pass. Now his buddy is selling an 06 RK Classic with the SE stage 2 kit because he's already bored with it. So the deals are out there if you keep looking.

My previous 5 bikes were all purchased new. However, I never had a computer before and I do now. This time I decided to check ebay. I probably will never buy another new bike. I found my 05 1200 C, 1300 miles andwith over a thousand in bling-bling (which I would want anyhow) and it was actually (and still is) perfect. I figure the owner lost $3,500.00 on that bike. That's about $3.00 a mile. Better he take the hit than me.

I doubt I will ever buy another new bike. There are too many low mileage, used Harleys out there to buy new. Also consider since supply of new bikes havefinally met demand, used, recent model Harleys don't hold their value as much as they did 5 - 6 years ago when I sold my 01 Heritage Classic for what I paid for it. There might be a few Harley owners who haven't got the message yet but those days are over.

i bought mine used from a buddy of mine, i know that he took gret care oof the bike, plus i added up all of the mods and chrome that he had already done to it. if i would have bought a new one and did the same mods, i would have spent close to $30,000. if you do buy a used on just make sure that the mods and the extra chrome are what you like!

I buy used. Most have lots of modifications already done.

I bought my last 2002RKC for 11.5k. Gorgeous bike and was cared for with all scheduled maintenance, etc.

I bought mine used because of the deal I found. So, I guess it would depend on what you find out there as to whether or not to buy new or used. I saved a small fortune.
