Here's a little lesson on cops and profiling. First off profiling is a buzz word created by the media, to explain why police were stopping and searching young black persons back in the early and mid ninetys. The media wants you to believe that all cops are racists and were stopping these people only based on the color of their skin and nothing else.

Well here's a suprise Cops do profile!!! But not based on the color of your skin, your ethnicity, your religion, your sexual preference or the kind of car you drive.

Cops "profile" based on criminal activity. Police take facts and circumstances based on several things that include the area, time of day, known location for criminal activity and several other factors that are all learned by the officer during his career that make up his training and experience to determine if they have reasonable articulable suspicion to believe that a crime has occurred, is occurring or is about to occur. If they have that RAS then they have the right to investigate. And if during that investigation they develop probable cause to search, for example smelling marijuana on a person or in a car then they have the right under the fourth ammendment to arrest and search that person. If they find no evidence then the person is released without being criminally charged.

Police have been "profiling" criminals and criminal behavior for a long time. Hell since day one of the first Sheriff in Olde England. How do you think the FBI catches all of those serial killers and pedophiles, by profiling.

"You got any pics of that bodybuilder? I'm a huge bodybuilder fan!"

Actually yeah, you can find him over at getbig.com or he'll be in Flex magazine in 2 months.

They didn't smell pot smoke cause anyone smoking that around us would get their *** beat. They smelled a combination of cigarette and cigar smoke and it was just a BS reason to search. He got searched either because they thought all bikers are bad so they have to have drugs or because all big bodybuilders do steroids and he'd have em on him. Either way, another reason to keep firearms in the home. Decreases the chances you'll be calling the cops for "help".

Your buddies demeanor and attitude displayed after he was stopped could very well have been the reason for the "shake down" and not profiling.

As a former LEO, if someone throws alot of attitude in your face, you might look for ways to repay the favor.
[sm=exactly.gif]alot has to do with attitude on how one is treated at a pullover for a basic traffics stop.

For everyone's edification, 3 beers in 1 hour will not put you over the legal limit. Each beer is about 25% (or .02) of the BAC limit. And each hour your body processes that amount. So in 2 hrs, the .06 would have been reduce to .02. Not even close to bustable.
Uh, no. You can't say that, it isn't that absolute. 3 beers in 1 hour will have a totally different effect on me (5'10", 205 lbs) than it would have on a 60 year old, 5'1", 100 pound woman that never drinks. Furthermore, you can't say that "your body processes that amount" because everyone's body processes alcohol at a different rate for a myriad of reasons. I know some big time drinkers around town that routinely drink themselves to a 0.20 and REMAIN that way for 6-8 hours because their liver no longer functions well enough to process the alcohol at a normal rate. They end up in the drunk tank and finally sober in about 16 hours, while a person with a healthier liver would be sober much quicker.

And, to hopefully close this aspect of the thread hijack, I was not stating he was not alright to drive when he did, I was simply taking issue with his statement that he drank water, therefore he was fine to drive. That's all. It was just my PSA to remind everyone to be safe...

I guess they were profiling EVERYBODY that failed to obey that Stop Sign, huh? Don't give an Officer a reason to stop ya, and you won't have to complain !!
EXACTLY.

I love when people complain about getting pulled over and they make comments like, "I was only doing 10 over the limit...."

Uh... riiiiiiggggghhhhht.

So... he got pulled over for rolling the stop sign. Which we all can and have done from time to time. I believe in some states they even consider it a roll if you do not put your feet down. I can stop my bike completely and hover without putting my feet down but in some places that is still illegal.

The search... Could have been anything from how he acted with the officer to how he smelled. Believe it or not... I know a cop that has been a cop for 20+ years and he honestly has no idea what reefer smells like. He always thinks cigar smoke may be reefer. Not like they put all the cops in a room with a bong and say, "Here... Smoke this and remember the smell.."

Come on now you are bashing the cops forharrasment thatmay or may not be there, but are willing to take the law into your own hands and TRY to beat someone up because of their choice to break a law that doesn't effect you. Wow

So he gets pulled over while riding because he didn't "come to a full stop" at a stop sign.
The "California Roll"?

I'm not a cop but that's breaking the law. I guess he was "profiled" as a Law Breaker?

I've been riding since '72 and I've always treated cops with respect. Sometimes I get pinched, sometimes I get slapped, all depends on the tude you bring out with your paperwork. IMHO

Cop or Civilian, either one needs to keep thier attitude in check. Civilians are people and Cops are people. Both make mistakes. I've seen bad Cops and Bad People.

I've been on both sides of the spectrum. I've been on the inside of law and seen good and bad and I see the same on the outside of law as a civilian.

Just remember that you cant see what another is thinking, either Cop or Civilian. If you break a traffic law and it's witnesed by an active duty Cop, respect it. Ifyou see a Cop disobey a traffic law or act aggressive toward you, then call your States Dept of Law Enforcement and report it.

Cops do time for crime too, especially now a days. And that alone is setting most game playing Cops straight.

Respect, respect, respect, to all, thats all it takes.

Actually we do!!! Not with a bong, but we do a controlled burn of marijuana for the rookies in the academy when we do thier class on drug identification. We always do it right before lunch....so they'll have the munchies.

and they get a contact high off of that? Do you burn good weed or cheapo stuff? I would assume cheapo stuff because thats what I smell most from people walking around in the grocery store [sm=icon_rofl.gif]and most likely thats what their going to come across. I use to always see the new cadets at a Mr Gattis pizza buffet when I would go. Makes me laugh now thinking they might have been a little high, then again I always saw regular cops there as well.
Haven't smoked in years but I prefer the good stuff, my buddy use to get his from one of the people who supply Willie. You talk aboutgood stuff, oh man.
