Man, I am 6'2", around 200lbs. I sat on and rode every bike I could, Harleys and rice. I liked the Wide Glide from the get go, I also really liked the look of the deuce, but I found out real quick, that none of the Softails had forward enough controls for me. So, being that you are 5 inches taller yet, My advice is to get the W.G. and add on some extensions and you'll be fine. And when you do buy post some pics. Good luck, and God bless you for your service !!!![sm=americanasmiley.gif]
Well ain't it a small world - a WG sitting right there! Vincent I think the WG will be fine, and I think the Deuce would too. You can probably install the forward controls yourself. My brother (6'3") moved his SuperGlide from mids to forwards by himself.
You don't want a seat that makes you lower - you'll be too close to the ground when trying to sit on the bike at a light and lower will make you closer to the controls. You want a seat that makes you back. Up is probably good as it will put you further from the controls and the ground.
I thought you were from the NY area based on the 212 (area code of NYC) but I see you're from Pheonix. I was going to offer to go with you to some dealers when you got back to help make sure you get the stuff you need. The owner of one of the dealers here in the NYC areas is a friend and the dealer I bought from is straight up. If you're out of Pheonix, why don't you throw some posts up and see if someone will come with you? Make sure you only pay $16k for a $16k bike and buy the stuff you need.
thanks alot for the tips nine, and I really appreciate the nice gesture. I dont know why it says 212, but yeah Im going back to Phoenix. With the info I got here, Im still looking forward to the day i get back. And when I do, I will posts pics (hopefully, suede blue pearl and black pics)
I am 6'3" 210 and have a Deuce. I added the 3" forward control and it make a huge difference. I think either bike would fit you with the forward controls added. Here are a couple of pictures to give you an idea of leg position with the forward controls. Good luck.
I like those pictures! That Deuce looks appealing too. As far as forward controls go, I'm not concerned about getting the full stretch, even tho I will get the extended controls, as much as I am the cramping of the knees. So, if the controls extend my legs out further than 120 degrees, I should be happy.
When I changed out my seat to a solo I also added the backrest, it makes a world of difference. Longest ride is 2-3hrs without a problem. With the stock seat I could go maybe 90 minutes.

I'm 6'4 with a 38" inseam. Added the 3" kit to my FXDWG myself, and loved it. Also added a Corbin seat and rider backrest, made 300+ mile days easy.

Hey i'm 6'5" 230ish. I ride a NT. I tested some stock and thought no way at all would that work, but then I ended up getting one with forward controls and a custom solo seat with some of the padding taken out which sits me further back. Also I have 16" apes, the bike is very comfortable and I am stretched out pretty good.
